Cape Cod beach accessibility: compare the features you need
Ask whether the route and facilities meet your needs, rather than whether a beach carries a general accessibility label.
This initial comparison covers selected National Seashore features. It is a source review, not a site inspection or a Cape-wide accessibility certification. “Published” means the operator describes the feature; it does not mean we have confirmed availability for your visit.

Five questions that make a useful enquiry
- Where is the correct arrival point, and what is the route from there to the destination?
- Are there steps, steep sections, loose sand or gaps in the firm surface?
- Is the equipment installed on the exact date, and how far does it extend?
- If a beach wheelchair is available, what transfer, assistance or reservation arrangements apply?
- Which restroom and changing facilities will be open, and can the return route be completed when needed?
Compare complete routes
Record the features each person requires and cross out any option with an unresolved essential requirement. An unknown is not a “yes.” If you can use a mat but cannot travel beyond its end, establish where it stops before treating the beach as a match. If you depend on assistance, confirm who provides it rather than assuming a rental or loan includes an attendant.
Keep a backup visit with suitable facilities and a return plan. That may be a visitor center or overlook instead of another beach. The right choice is the one whose entire visit works for the party.
